Volunteer Spotlight: Whitney Cook
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when someone gives their whole heart to animal welfare, look no further than Whitney Cook. Whitney is not only a dedicated FWACC volunteer—she’s also one of our most committed fosters, specializing in some of our most demanding cases: moms with puppies. While many shy away from the chaos, noise, and 24/7 demands of litters, Whitney steps in without hesitation, giving these vulnerable families a safe, loving start.
You’ve likely seen her everywhere—at transports, at events, and answering the call whenever we’re in urgent need of help. She’s a person we know we can count on, whether it’s early mornings, last-minute requests, or the tough cases that need extra patience and skill.
What makes her stand out even more? Whitney does all of this while juggling a full-time job, a full-time family life, and a schedule that would make most people run for cover. Yet she shows up—reliable, compassionate, and ready to make a difference.
Whitney’s commitment, versatility, and positivity make her an invaluable part of our FWACC community. We are incredibly grateful for her continued dedication and the countless lives she’s helped save.
Thank you, Whitney, for everything you do. You are truly extraordinary.
Meet Lynn A0059734345!
Meet Lynn, a 4-year-old, 55-lb sweetheart who has captured the hearts of staff and volunteers since she arrived as a stray on November 4th. Gentle, loving, and full of charm, Lynn knows “sit,” takes treats softly, and even offers a cute little “shake.” She has an endearing begging motion, lifting both front paws when excited, and is easygoing on leash.
Lynn is dog-friendly, calm around people, and loves social interactions—but the shelter environment is starting to stress her out. She’s pacing, panting, and pawing at her kennel. This sweet girl would thrive in a foster or forever home where she can relax and feel safe.

Corky's Story
Mr. Corky's story is one for the books, featuring teamwork and lots of love!
It started when Corky came into our care as a stray in January 2025. He was tagged for transport almost immediately, but when our medical team noticed rear-leg lameness, everything changed. X-rays showed he needed a special surgery. Thankfully, our transport partner stayed committed to him and patiently waited while we worked through the twists and turns.
A big shoutout goes to Dr. Ely for performing his surgery in September, he made Corky’s future possible. Another huge shoutout goes to his foster, Elizabeth, who welcomed Corky into her heart and home over the last nine months. Because of her, Mr. Corky had a cozy place to heal, and throughout his recovery she called him “the best dog ever.” It turns out, a foster’s love was exactly what Corky needed.
And remember that transport partner who was waiting at the beginning of this happy tail? Well… this week Mr. Corky finally made his way to them. This is what teamwork looks like. This is what compassion looks like. This is the work of the FWACC village.
