Our events give shelter pets the chance to shine outside the kennel and connect with potential adopters in the community. From adoption events to outreach opportunities, these gatherings help our animals gain visibility, build confidence, and sometimes even find their forever homes.

If you’re interested in participating, you can sign up to bring your foster pet, handle a shelter dog, or help our team set up and run the event. Each event listing below will include quick details along with links to register.

Bring Your Foster to an Event
If you’d like to bring your foster pet to an upcoming event, please complete the Foster Event Sign Up so staff can review your foster’s readiness and help ensure a great experience for both the pet and the public.

Bring a Shelter Pet to the Event
Volunteers can help showcase shelter pets by bringing a dog to the event and helping them meet potential adopters. If you’re interested in handling a shelter pet for an event, this is the opportunity for you!

Help With Event Setup & Support
Events run best with extra hands! Volunteers are needed to help with setup, greeting guests, assisting with pets, and packing up after the event. Sign up below if you’d like to support the team.

We’re heading to the heart of the Stockyards for something special, and we want you there with us.

Join us on May 9 at Rodeo Plaza during PBR Week for our Herd You Needed A Dog Spring Event. With the energy of the rodeo, crowds moving through the Stockyards, and a built-in audience of animal lovers and visitors, this is one of the best opportunities to get your foster dog seen.

This is more than just an event. It is exposure, connection, and real placement potential. Dogs show differently out in the world. Puppy Hour at Leaves Bakery & Books is where second chances happen—and we need you to make them possible.

Join us for Puppy Hour at Leaves Bakery & Books on May 16th! We’re looking for volunteers and fosters to help handle dogs, engage with adopters, and share fostering info. Whether you’re walking a pup or helping with meet-and-greets, you’ll make a direct impact. Sign up and help connect pets with their future families!

These events bring together dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities who are ready to find loving homes. Hosted at PetSmart locations, they give our shelter pets the visibility they need outside of the kennel—but we can’t do it without our fosters and volunteers.

Join us for our Joy Starts Here adoption event at Hollywood Feed (West 7th) and help bring this event to life for our shelter pets.

We’re looking for fosters to bring their foster pets and help showcase them in a community setting, as well as volunteers to assist with handling shelter dogs, supporting meet-and-greets, and creating a positive experience for potential adopters.

Events like this give our pets a chance to get out of the shelter, decompress, and connect—helping them show their true personalities.

Join us this May for our Fetch a Friend Adoption Event at Lowe’s, where shelter pets are ready to meet their perfect match! We’re looking for both volunteers and fosters to help make this event a success by bringing adoptable pets, connecting with potential adopters, and sharing the impact of fostering and volunteering in our community.

These events play a huge role in proactive placement by giving pets more visibility, allowing them to show their true personalities outside of the shelter, and connecting them directly with adopters.
