February 24th - March 3rd

Dear FWACC Volunteers,

Thank you for being a vital part of our volunteer team! This week we have several volunteer opportunities across both shelters, upcoming events, and special ways to help our dogs enjoy socialization and community outings. Check out the details below and see how you can make a difference this week!

This week, we’re asking for extra volunteer support in the areas where help is needed most. Your time—whether short or extended—directly impacts the animals in our care right now.

Henry’s Animal Campus - Outbound Assistant: Support the Team
Play a direct, behind-the-scenes role in helping animals move into foster, rescue, transport, and adoption centers. As an Outbound Assistant, you’ll support daily operations by assisting with tasks like identifying animals for outbound programs, taking updated photos, preparing go-home supply kits, organizing the foster closet, and helping retrieve dogs for approved pickups. This role is ideal for organized, proactive volunteers who are comfortable around dogs and want to make a meaningful, hands-on impact by helping pets take their next step out of the shelter.

Silcox Animal Shelter - Urgent Pet Advocate

Step into one of the most impactful volunteer roles at FWACC by advocating for pets who need immediate attention to improve their chances of adoption or rescue. Urgent Pet Advocates support long-stay animals, pets experiencing kennel stress, or those with medical or behavioral concerns by providing updated behavior observations, quality photos, and meaningful socialization in approved play yards. By following safety protocols and sharing timely notes and images with staff, you help bring overlooked animals into the spotlight, support lifesaving decisions, and give vulnerable pets a real chance at a fresh start.

Upcoming Adoption Events

We have several upcoming adoption events where volunteer support will be essential. These events rely on dedicated volunteers to help showcase our shelter pets, assist with handling, speak with potential adopters, and support overall event operations. Adoption events are one of our most impactful outreach efforts — and they truly cannot happen without you.

We also want to give everyone a heads up that PetSmart National Adoption Week is right around the corner! We will need strong volunteer support at both PetSmart Alliance and PetSmart Hulen on March 28th and 29th. These are always high-traffic, high-impact events, and we are excited to show up strong for our pets.

📅 Mark your calendars now — more details and sign-ups will be coming soon!

Transport Support

We need volunteers to help make our pets’ last few days in Texas extra special! Volunteers are needed to assist with walking dogs and cleaning during upcoming transports on:

  • March 3rd – 5th

  • March 16th – 18th

Your support ensures our pets travel safely and comfortably to their new homes. 💛

Doggy Day Out:

Our Doggy Day Out program continues to be an incredible outlet for our dogs - giving them a break from the shelter, valuable enrichment, and great exposure to potential adopters.

If you're interested in participating in Doggy Day Out, keep an eye on future emails and our volunteer Facebook group for available opportunities.

While we have hundreds of dogs eligible for this program, this week we want to highlight two special kids that have been with us for quite some time and would benefit greatly from a day out of the kennels.

You can find more information on our Doggy Day Out Program and a list of dog friendly establishments in and around Fort Worth by visiting our Volunteer Resource Center!

Thank you for continuing to show up for animals who need it most by opening your homes, your time, and your hearts. Foster care is one of the most powerful ways we save lives, and we are deeply grateful for the commitment you make every day.

Keep an eye out for next week’s updates!
